Debtors first duty to appear and testify under oath and to be questioned by creditors occurs at the 341(a) meeting. It is called "341 meeting" because section 341(a) of the bankruptcy code requires a meeting. This meeting is presided over by the trustee assigned to the case and is held approximately 20 to 40 days after the new bankruptcy petition is filed.
