I recently took job with another company. My previous employer is denying to pay out my accured vacation time (111 hours) because I didn't give a full 2 week notice. Can they do this? What actions can I take?

Can they do this? What actions can I take? Marketeer 06-13-2006, 07:51 AM Alabama does not appear to have any laws requiring that employers pay employees for unused vacation time upon termination. Thus, employers are free to set their own policies for such pay outs. A policy requiring employees to provide a full two weeks' notice is not unusual in such situations, since the employer does not have to pay out at all. mlane58 06-13-2006, 07:52 AM Under Alabama law, Vacation pay is considered a fringe benefit of the company and is not a required payment by law. The only exception would be something written in your employer's handbook stating that they will pay out acurred vacation. |
