I have been employed at a large Fortune 500 company in Arizona for the past 3 ½ years. Recently, I gave birth to my first child and I am out on maternity leave. Currently, I am receiving short-term disability benefits from my company, which pays approximately 85% of my normal pay. During my maternity leave, I have decided to become a stay at home mom. I have 2 questions: 1.) Am I required to give 2 weeks notice to my company? 2.) If I do not give 2 weeks notice, can my company force me to pay back the short term disability pay?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

Giving notice would certainly be the courteous thing to do. The company cannot require you to repay the STD payments. If you decide not to return to work, It can, under FMLA, require you to repay any health insurance premiums it paid on your behalf in order to continue your health insurance while you were out.
