I recently moved to Oregon to be with my fiance. His wife, Mary, passed away in March of 2004. Her adult children (from another marriage) were living with her at the time of death. Robert has asked these adults (age 28 and 32) to leave his house on several different occasions. They refuse to pay rent. In September of 2004 Robert and I moved into an apartment. We did this as their was animosity toward me by Mary's girls. At that time the girls were given the opportunity to pay rent or move out. It is now January 2005 and Robert and I really want to move back into the house. These girls are very abusive toward Robert. They just want a free ride. What can we do to get them out of the house.

You probably need to go to court and have them evicted.

Yeah, send/give them a 3 day notice or a 30/60 day notice (depends on where you reside) and if no answer, go to the court.

First, you need to find out what the state law is on eviction as there may be notice procedures to be complied with. I also recommend making sure that the girls have no claim to the house legally speaking. After that, go forward with the eviction process. It is the sort of thing that you hope can be worked out within the family, but if not there are courts.

I agree! Here in California it would be pretty costly to start the eviction process but in Oregon it would not be that much. Not saying a better solutions could not be found though ...
