I am 5 months pregnant and my employer just gave me a termination date of June 15. The person who told me this is not the management, she is the coordinator for our group of teachers. THe management is actually located in Arizona. They "heard" that I was not coming back after the baby is born in OCtober. They do not want to pay me through my contract which is until October 7. They are paying all the other teachers for the summer, but they do not want to pay me since they "heard" I was not coming back after the baby. They did not ask me or hear anything from me and told my Coordinator to let me go. They said they do not need a reason because the contract says "with or without cause".
What do you think I should do?

If you didn't hear this from someone authorized to make the decision, I'd first of all, verify that it is even true. It sounds like you are acting on a rumor.
Second, if you have a bonafide contract, you will need to take it to a lawyer who specializes in contracts as no one here can interpret one we have not read. Contracts rarely allow someone to terminate with or without cause so I'm doubting this is truly a contract that you have. Only a lawyer who has reviewed it can tell you for sure though.
If you are a teacher, chances are good you are part of a union. If so, you would need to speak to them about whether letting you go now is permitted under the agreement or not.
It would be illegal to fire you because you are pregnant, but not in spite of it. Contracts, unions and such aside, it believing that you do not intend to return next school year would be a legal reason to let you go.

Maybe the poster, with the help of the union, could approach her boss, and say i am absolutely planning on coming back next year if you'll let me. Maybe the boss needs a reason to pay her for the summer. Could she sign something saying she will be returning so that they know it is not just words but she really does plan on it? If they let her go after she swears that she will return, would they at that time with thier "reason" for letting her go, gone,be really firing her because she is pregnant?? Just curious if there is a remedy here,or if they just want her gone?
I can't get union help because this is a small business company hired by the school districts using grant money. I am a teacher, but I am working for a company within a school, so it is a little different.
