What are the requirements for jury duty payment in Kansas? Isn't the employer required to allow the employees's the time off without fear of termination? However, does the employer have to pay them their hourly wage for the day or can they require us to use their sick or vacation time if available.
Thanks for your help!
Yes, an employer must allow you to take time off for jury duty and you cannot be disciplined for doing so. I don't have the specific state laws for jury duty with me but I will be in my home office for about five minutes tonight and I'll try to remember to grab them. Some states require payment; more states don't; just one or two have requirements about the use of vacation or sick time. I don't recall what Kansas is offhand but if no one else has done so by then, I'll try to post them tonight or early tomorrow.

My resources say only that pay is not required by the state (although the FLSA does prohibit the employer from docking the pay of an exempt employee on jury duty), and that the employee may not be discharged or threatened with discharge for complying with the call to jury duty.
