If you are a hourly paid worker and have to punch a clock do you have to be paid for every minute you work

Employers normally use the "rounding" method when computing hours worked. It has generally been the practice in some industries, particularly where time clocks are used, to record employees' starting and stopping time to the nearest 5 minutes, or the nearest one-tenth or quarter of an hour.

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will accept this practice of computing working time provided that it is used in such a manner that it will not result, over a period of time, in failure to compensate the employees properly for all the time they have actually worked.
