I recently visited this beautiful city with my fiancé for the New Year, which we happen to do every year. On or trip, both my fiancé and I were assaulted by a group of 5 to 7 young males in broad daylight, close to the busy street of canal. The men accused both my fiancé and I of hitting their friend with our car (which was parked) and demanded money a million to be exact. Once the police arrived, the young man threw himself onto the floor asking for an ambulance. Not that the incident was stressful enough, the police yelled at my fiancé and I into our cars and to “shut up” even though the only yelling being done was from the other party. We were told by the officers to get over what just happened and to go back to our “bull****” commonwealth Virginia, because in NY, anyone can get pushed around. If someone tells you that they want to hurt you, and follow through with it, it SHOULD be considered violent and especially coming from a youth, given a consequence. please help me try to understand, this kid is trying to take my fiance and i to court, and there is absolutly no damage to the car, except for a 3 inch scratch on the side of the door. Why was it that i got pushed around by 6 men, while the rest pinned down my boyfriend, and nothing happens?

The greatest city in the world deserves to be named twice. :)
If I were you, I'd file a criminal complaint against the people who threatened you and counter sue them. Also, I'd file a complaint against the police officers who mistreated you.
