I have read through many posts and have yet another tree question. I have a tree who's trunk is mostly on my property. I don't know exactly where the property line is but am in the process of getting a survey to find out.

The tree is NOT a hazard. I have had an arborist tell me it is healthy but does indeed need a limb cut off from storm damage. He is coming back to trim my tree soon.

My neighbor, without asking, has taken it upon herself to have the tree removed. I only found out because I ran into a man from the gas company marking MY yard for "digging and removal of tree."

My neighbor won't return my phone calls or answer her door. How do I stop her from doing this? How do I stop the tree removal company she called when they show up? Do I call the police? I'm afraid she will just have it taken down while I'm at work by lying to the tree company, saying I gave approval, and then pay any fine. But then it will be too late and I will have lost this large, beautiful shade tree.

If the gas company is removing the tree, it probably is interfering with gas lines and impacting safety or could cause a line rupture and gas line leak if the roots are getting into the gas line, and you and your neighbor both are subject to utility easements, so if that is the case that the gas company is removing the tree, there is probably nothing you can do.

It is NOT the gas company. I called them and they said they have no record of doing any work on my house, and to call Gopher One (Gopher One marks lines when digging will occur). The man was from Gopher One and he said the marks were for removal of the tree BY MY NEIGHBOR.
