Abducted Teen Girl Found

A 14-year-old girl was found unharmed late Saturday, a day after being abducted
from her Georgia home, authorities said. The suspected kidnapper was also
detained.

The details of Kendralyn Radford's recovery were unclear, but police said two
witnesses spotted the alleged kidnapper's 1997 Chevrolet Lumina in a WalMart
parking lot in Kissimmee. She was found before 10 p.m., police told the Orlando
Sentinel.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation issued an alert for Kendralyn shortly after
she was kidnapped around 7:45 p.m. Friday. Authorities said the suspect,
Michael Dewitt Hightower, was armed with a handgun and considered dangerous.

Macon, Ga., police detective David Patterson said the girl was home with her
80-year-old adoptive grandfather, Hugh Hunnicutt, when Hightower, 39, forced
his way in through a side door.

The suspect, who is married to Kendralyn's biological mother, struck Hunnicutt
in the back of the head, took his wallet and keys and removed the teen from the
house.

Georgia authorities said they were not sure what the kidnapping's motive was.
But they noted that Kendralyn's biological mother, Tracy Hightower, filed for
divorce from the suspect Thursday.
