In the early '60's my grandfather purchased a lot in Florida. The deed was in his name and my mothers name. My mother passed away in the late '60's. At this time did sole ownership pass to my grandfather, or do inheritance laws take precedence, meaning my brothers and I would own 1/2 of the property. My grandfather passed away in the early '70's, without a will. Now we're trying to clear the title and sell the land and divide the proceeds between my uncle (my grandfathers son) and myself and my brothers.

I suggest that you consult an attorney and ask for preparation of a report of limited title examination. I think this will depend a lot on the kind of deed that existed when the mother and grandfather owned the land together. Regardless, since all parties are dead, the result is likely that you all own it jointly but how you determine that and the sort of deed is impossible to say not seeing the deed.
