<< >How funny. I particularly loved the one about the first review of theMicrosoft PC in Aug. of '81 where it states:
"The thing is totally modular; even the I/O cards are separate! For $ 1,565 you get a keyboard and logic unit with 16K RAM anda Basic interpreter in 40K ROM. A cassette interface is builtin, I think; but no diskette or monitor at this price -- youuse your TV set. Of course you can add one or two minidiskettes, lots more memory (16-64k increments), a B&W monitor (no colormonitor was mentioned), RS-232C interface card, matrix printer,a joystick/paddle interface (but you have to buy somebody else'sjoysticks and paddles); and maybe the kitchen sink. A "businessconfiguration" with 64K, dual diskettes, printer, and "colorgraphics" goes for about $ 4,500."
$4,500!!! HA!

An old friend, back in touch through the wonders of the internet after many
years, recollected what he believed likely one of the stupidest things he'd
ever said. The year would have been about 1978 or 79 and he said he was going
to "wait until next year" to buy a computer as he was sure the prices would
start to come down by then.
