Change to Irish adoption law
A number of changes to adoption law in the Republic have been announced.
They include ratification of the Hague Convention on Protection of Children in
inter-country adoption and providing a stronger legal framework for fostering.
It has been proposed that foster parents be given rights of guardianship after
a specified number of years.
Ireland`s Children`s Minister Brian Lenihan has also announced a tracing unit
will be established to help access information for those involved in adoptions.
