Definite BLARGH! It's only been on for a minute, but I can't bear to watch
it. If anyone else here watches it, let me know what you think :P

[Coming out of occasional lurkdom for my annual a.a post...]

For those who didn't/couldn't watch, here's some recap plus some random
thoughts on the show, which I watched in several 5-minute bits (all I
could stand), plus the last 12 minutes:

After I saw that the adoptee was an plastic surgery addict (she looked
nothing like the photos of her they showed from her teens and presumably
her early 20s), I found it difficult to believe reunion was her only
motive. I found myself wondering if she's trying to break into Hollywood
or some other entertainment career and was using this to do it. I never
did hear, if they mentioned it, what she does for a living. They did
mention she was in the Navy at some point, and showed an unrecognizable
photo of her from that period.

She was dressed in a very low-cut cocktail dress (and at least the
bottom of the skirt was transparent) for the first meeting of the 8 men.
She was also sporting obvious breast implants. Several of the men seemed
to be teary-eyed at seeing her.

I was disgusted at the way each man said 'I'm Joe Blow, I'm from
Escondido, and I'm your dad.' Two or three sounded pretty sincere. The
two finalists were the two I picked out at the initial meeting with the
8, mostly because they had been among the ones who cried as first they
saw her.

We found out at the end that each Joe Blow's name, as introduced to the
adoptee, was a pseudonym (though they didn't use last names). The man
called 'Charlie' for the entire show and who turned out to be her
birthfather was revealed to be Robert Somebody. The other finalist also
revealed his supposedly real name. The adoptee, when asked her full
name, said 'TJ Myers.' Her full name is TJ?

BF asked for forgiveness. Adoptee said 'no, no,' presumably meaning
there's no need, and then said she forgave him.

She referred to her birthfather throughout the show as her dad. 'My dad
might be' this, 'my dad might do' that. When it came time for the
surprise reunion at the end with her birthmother, she referred to the
woman (in voice-over narration) only as her birthmother.

There was near-hysterical crying from the birthfather, the birthmother,
and possibly the adoptee (hard to tell b/c of camera angles or maybe I'm
just forgetting) at the reunion with the birthmother. There were several
'I love you's uttered during the clutch between adoptee and BM. The
birthfather and birthmother, it was revealed in voice-over narration,
had kept in touch throughout the years. BM told adoptee she was
pressured to go to an unwed mothers' home and give up the baby, that
'the parents got together' and they 'had no choice.'

BF told adoptee she was part of his family, along with his wife (not
present on the show, but they showed a photo) and 3 daughters (all
present on the show). Adoptee thanked half-sisters for... (that pause
had me on the edge of my seat as I thought she'd come out with something
to offend the teenage girls) 'letting your dad do this.' [Whew.]
