sylak 11-22-2004, 05:59 PM Pretty cool! I actualy managed a cut and paste. Thanks "dad" for letting me
know of my goof.
Dad:
It is a pity you did not know me while I was in the service. I assure you
that "nice" was not a word used to describe me. I got over it. I suppose if
I am not following the "normal" trend of being a bitter, dysfunctional,
hateful and hurtful individual then it is just possible that I am a
defective adoptee that has somehow strayed from the preordained path set for
me. I am pretty sure I have mentioned this before but it might help to
explain my attitude: While researching some newspapers from the day I was
born I found an article about a newborn male child found dead in a river by
a couple of kids fishing. That could have as easily been me. I will attempt
to generate some bitterness somewhere along here so I can fit in better. In
the meantime I expect the veterans on this NG will keep the pot well
stirred.

Bite your little adopted tongue.I did notice a few postsback that someone, and I really don't remember who, was chastising someoneelse for using the term b-dad when they were not (I am assuming here)adopted. The poster said words to the effect "we natural kids don't refertoour father as a b-dad". It was the term "natural" that caught myattention.I must infer from this that I am therefore un-natural. Somewhat along theline of those of us who do not eat "natural foods" must be subsisting on"un-natural foods". Then there are those who eat only "organic food".Yes,I know what it is suppossed to mean but on the surface it would seem therest of us are eating, you have it, inorganic food. Good night all, haveyourselves a delightful Monday. (I wonder in "delightful Monday" might beanoxymoron?) :-) Raymond, you are far too gentle and civilized to be an adoptee. I rather doubt that you are. Maybe you were really born to your adoptive parents, as Diane believes. I can't comprehend how someone who reconditions medical equipment for the needy would have been adopted. It just doesn't make sense. You're supposed to be a bitter, self-serving, sociopathic serial killer. Where did you go wrong? Perhaps your real parents played a cruel joke on you. Born to them, you were too ugly to claim as their own flesh and blood, so they made up a story about how you were adopted. Now, scurry on back to wherever it is that you came from. This is alt.adoption. We have a reputation to uphold. Dad

Most of us adoptees here aren't "bitter, dysfunctional, hateful and hurtful
individuals" in real life. This is a great place to vent about adoption
issues, and you know that you'll be understood. Try doing that in real life.
gak. LOL
My best advice is to have your sarcasm meter adjusted. ;-) It's an

sylak 11-23-2004, 07:24 PM I have no doubt that there are a number cute psycopaths in this group. I
wonder if there is a psyco edition of Trivia Pursuit? It might come in
handy at this party. With all this talk of abusing fruit and various body
parts I would very much like to see this crew all in one place. Hmmmm, I
hope "cute" is not a prerequisite for getting into this party. If so I am
out of luck. On that note, puppies are cute, babies are cute but
dysfuncional psychos? I will be gracious and take your word for it.

I've been thre, but it's been a long time ago. My British mentor and I made
a quick road trip through Massachusetts, Vermont, and Connecticut back in
the late 1980s. He told me we could stop whenever I saw something that
interested me, but every time I spotted some bizarre roadside attraction,
he'd throw a fit and say it was stupid, which in turn made me feel stupid.

sylak 11-25-2004, 06:13 AM Jack;
Mo'Vegas is where I work out of. Hyde Park makes sense for the adoption as
that is where the civil court is located in Lamoille County. Waitsfiled and
Northfield are both in Washington County. You have it simple. I was born in
Philly, abandoned in Manhattan and adopted out of the Probate Court in
Queens.Yeah, I'm an immigrant bastard.

to begin hosting an annual adoptee get together in Colorado or just a

I usually get together with some old yardies a couple times a year. This year
it was just adoptees.
We're planning another one for next summer. The more the merrier! Hubby wants
to take us camping and leave a trail of bread crumbs to see if we can find our
way back. ;-)
A couple of other triad members are interested in coming next year (I think it
was the idea of a weekend of martinis on the deck). The adoptees are going to
have to decide if this is "adoptee only" or if we'll invite them and use them
in the ritual sacrifice at the end of the weekend. LOL

I think it would be very bizarre to meet people from this board after

Ally Sheedy? Hmmmm not sure that is a compliment, lol (at least not in
the strung out on drugs pictures). I don't know about that. I'll ask
dh and see what his take on that is. This could be fun...I don't get
any facial feature vibes about you, except that I think you would be

Whoa! Four times in four days? Even I'm not that bad. I had it a bright
auburn for Halloween, but after getting it cut, it was a bit more two-toned
than I like (red on top, brown on the sides), so I colored it a medium
brown. However, that's turned out to be too dark, so I'm going to lighten
it up later this morning. Who knows what I'll end up with ;)

I think Alley Sheedy is darling! So, yes, it was meant as a compliment. I am
often compared to Julianne Moore. My hair is long, but not red.
I, too, picture Rupa as "earthy", but not granola. I see her as elegant, calm

many of us eh? I think I've only shown one or two people on this board
what I look like and that was quite a while ago so hopefully no
Debbie photos floating out there, lol as it might just break a few
monitors, lol. I don't get the Jeff Daniels vibe for Dad. I actually
had him pegged more as the husband of Andrea Yates type (no personal
insinuations intended). I asked my dh about the Ally Sheedy
comparison and he said he didn't think so. He said he can't think of
any actresses that I resemble (Harumph! lol) Julianne Moore is
attractive so you are lucky there. When I said "earthy" for
clarification sake I absolutely meant that as a compliment. I, myself
am not a clothes or makeup or accessory horse so I really appreciate a
more natural appearance in people.
sylak 12-01-2004, 05:19 PM Earthy is definitely good. I just wish I knew some of the people you are all
comparing to. I guess I don't watch enough TV. Actually, for all intent and
purpose I don't watch any. So, just when is the next big bash going to be?

I think I've only shown one or two people on thisboard what I look like and that was quite a while ago so hopefullyno Debbie photos floating out there, lol as it might just break a fewmonitors, lol. I don't get the Jeff Daniels vibe for Dad. I actually hadhim pegged more as the husband of Andrea Yates type
Oh blech!
(no personal insinuations intended).
Too late. It's time for your bath, ungrateful adoptee.
I asked my dh about the Ally Sheedycomparison and he said he didn't think so. He said he can't think ofany actresses that I resemble (Harumph! lol) Julianne Moore isattractive so you are lucky there. When I said "earthy" forclarification sake I absolutely meant that as a compliment. I, myselfam not a clothes or makeup or accessory horse so I really appreciate amore natural appearance in people.
Birkenstocks and khakis.

I picture you, Lil as oh heck what is her name, the girl that's was on
White Snake's car in the video, the red head but you know not quite
dressed that way as you are a Mom. Anyway, maybe you get the idea.

Double blech!
I like career women, I married one. The last thing I look for in a woman is
their domestic ability. Sprogging multiple kids within a short period of time
is not an attractive quality to me.
I cook more than she does. I do more laundry. I definitely clean and
organize the house far more than she does. Does this sound like Mr. Andrea
Yates to you? Sounds more like Mrs. Doubtfire. Maybe Scarlett was on to
something.
My wife is the world's second biggest packrat, outranked only by her mother.
We have a two car garage. She parks her car in one half, and stores her junk
in the other. Mine sits out in the driveway. We have separate closets, but
somehow her clothes and shoes have found their way into my space. *****.
Currently, parked next to my car is a rented construction dumpster. Our
basement flooded several weeks ago, which gave me the perfect excuse to purge
that particular storage space of her junk. I cannot tell you how liberating it
was to pitch trash bag after trash bag into that dumpster. It's ready for
pickup now, all 30' x 8' x 4' stuffed to the brim. It's such a beautiful
sight. I'm gonna take a picture of it and make it my wallpaper.
She isn't real happy with me at the monent, but she hasn't left me during the
past 26 years. My wife, I think she'll keep me.

I would have thought Commander Riker, older and with beard.
