I posted a question regarding overtime and churches, as to whether they could refuse to pay overtime. To the best of my understanding, the person who answered that question indicated that they could just pay you a straight salary( for instance if you are supposed to work 8 hrs at 10.00 an hour, and you work 12 hours, it wouldn't be time and a half-it would just be the $10.00 an hour.) Does this apply to non-profit churches and organizations as well?
If this is the case that any employer can do anything they want to the employee, it makes one wonder whether there is really any "justice for all" anymore, and it really makes sense as to why it seems to be so hard to get ahead-the CEO's and the head honchos(like our politicians in Washington) don't suffer, because of the big bucks they "earn", but blue collar and people who struggle to survive each day on the wages that employers pay ordinary working people. What a system!! :(
