I am the biological grandmother of a four year old girl who was adopted by a
21 year old single mother two years ago.
This past two weeks I have found posts on the internet at
www.forums.adoption.com by the adoptive mother.
There are allegations of abuse in those posts.
The posts present some very serious allegations of neglect of my grandchild
by myself, my daughter (the biological mom), DFS, a physician, and the
adoptive mom herself.
When I entered the forum and voiced my concerns and regrets I was politely
asked to shut up by a moderator.
I did.
The following day the moderator showed up asking me questions about the
issues of the day before.
When I answered her questions she banned me.
I was told that those issues have no place on the forum and are meant for
private conversation...I was told that bashing would not be allowed...yet
allegations of abuse an neglect were allowed by the adoptive mother.
I have several screen names and access to several computers in which I can
monitor anything else said in this forum, so the ban was really useless.
My issue, and my reason for writing this tale is this...
Adoptive parents and biological parents alike should take a look on
www.forums.adoption.com to see what might be being said about YOU!
The forum should be held accountable for the things that they allow to be
(as a moderated community) posted on their web site.
In one post 'our' adoptive mother states that she tied my grandchild to a
chair in the food court at the mall.
This should be constituted as abuse, and as a moderated community, the
moderators should be treated as mandated reporters and should be held
accountable for failing to report abuse that is divulged on their forum.
This community 'appears' to be designed as a support network for all that
have interest in the adoption issue...from birth parents to
attorneys...however, the site is plastered with ads from private adoption
agencies and adoptive parents seeking children.
It is sponsored by money that buys children.
If you are an adoptive hopeful you should carefully consider what you are
saying in such an open forum. You might get caught like 'our' adoptive mom
did.
If you are a biological parent seeking advice and support, check and see
what might be being said about you, and by all means...REMEMBER who pays
adoption.com's bills!!!!!!!!!!!
It's not the heartbroken mother, it's the hopeful parent to be.
I publicly protest the actions of www.forums.adoption.com
I publicly protest the the slander allowed by this forum against any and all
people...including children, bioligical parents and adoptive parents alike.
I here by publicly proclaim that private or public forums, whether run by
individuals or corporations, should be mandated to report abuse or suspected
abuse by it's users and that they should be held accountable for failing to
report such abuse to authorities just as teachers, hospitals, or any other
agency or person who has knowledge of such abuse.
If you agree with me, please email me.
Thank You
