Ukrainian Orphans To Live In Willmar
Oct 21, 2004 6:30 am US/Central
Minneapolis (AP) Four sisters from the Ukraine who were separated through
adoption were reunited Wednesday at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport,
and they will now all live near each other in Willmar.
Marina and Sveta Kyryluk were greeted at the airport by their sisters, Nadya
Roberts and Anya Benson -- who were already living with their adoptive families
from Willmar -- and their new parents.
Marina, 13, is the new daughter of Dawn and Ross Marcus while Sveta, 16, will
be adopted by Sharon and Tony Cruze. Nadya Roberts, 10, is the daughter of Eric
and Stacey Roberts and Anya Benson, 14, is the daughter of Art and Annette
Benson.
"Sisters are so important in life, and to see them together now -- for life --
is amazing," Dawn Marcus said.
The sisters were placed in a Ukrainian orphanage in 1999 after their parents'
rights were terminated.
The Roberts adopted Nadya three years ago and told members of their church
about her sisters, who were still at the orphanage. The Bensons adopted Anya a
year ago and the Marcuses then looked into adopting Marina.
Sveta was too old for adoption, so the Cruzes planned to help her come to the
United States on a student visa. They hit some legal roadblocks, but the
Marcuses, who were in the Ukraine to adopt Marina, took responsibility for
Sveta so she could come to the United States.

A good friend will come and bail you out of jail . . . but, a true friend will
be sitting next to you saying, "Damn . . . that was fun!"
