I was just wondering if anyone else has dealt with a lawyer who is hard to reach.I had an initial consultation with my lawyer,he made me feel very comfortable,I paid my retainer fee to him.Now when I try to reach him he is either out,on the phone or with a client.I have left numerous messages to him but no return calls. What is a person to do?

How long of a time span are we talkin here? Lawyers do tend to be busy, but they should get back to you within a day or two.

Well I called him twice yesterday,he was on the phone first time, second time he was in court. Called at 9 this morning he was on phone, called back at 11 he was with a client.Just makes me nervous when i cant reach him, makes you wonder If he will be there when it comes time for the real battle.

might have better luck sending them all in one email- then he can answer them all at once and zap it back

Attys do get busy. They normally have times in their schedule set for returning phone calls. If your questions can't wait, ask to speak to his paralegal, if he has one. But don't expect your atty to take you calls immediately, or to return them immediately, either. If you called and left a message, give him a couple of days before you call back. When you call back, be sure to tell the receptionist that you are still waiting to hear back and would appreciate it if she would mark your message as priority.

Yes, it's kinda early to get nervous. You're lucky though, alot of lawfirms are starting to make clients set up appointments just to have phone time! While you can, zap them with a modest amount of e-mail or faxes! We are in the age of airwave commuication...." fASTER THAN A SPEEDING BULLET!" :)
