i applied at london ahc nearly 2 years ago, over that time i have sent
in additional information they have requested and every time i call up
the number i was given (which has now been shortened to 3 days a week
11-12) i get the usual thing of, "its being looked at, blah blah blah"
or "a senior case officer will look at it soon but they have alot of
other cases too look at they are very busy" yeah right. now then,
should i call up a demand to speak to somebody else or do you all
think this could rock the boat, im so frustrated after waiting this
long when at first i was told it would take an average of 9 months,
yeah i know, funny isnt it "not". every day i think is this the day,
looking at emails, checking the post and whatever, im going out of my
mind as i cant make any plans. in case your wondering ive still not
been requested my medicals and police checks and i didnt use an
immigration lawyer, which im now regretting. any help that you might
give me will be gratefull received. also is it too late for me to use
an immigration lawyer, i.e. could they help me out at this late
stage??
yours,
mr desperate dan going out of his mind............

"at first i was told it would take an average of 9 months"
Who told you so? DIMIA? If so,they should inform you their progress
after 9 months. If they didn't do so, you should complain it.
Maybe you can send letter/email to the visa offier who deal with your
case to complain such case. I guess it works.
I finished my application for PR (onshore graduate visa) totally by
myself. it took me 7 months. I admit some of my friends who hired some
immigration agent can get their PR visa very quickly(the fastest one got
his visa within 4 weeks, it is really amazing!). But I also knew some of
my friends who hired some immigration agent got their PR visa after 10
months or longer time. So, it seems different agents will have different
service quality. You should be careful to choose the right one if you
want to hire an agent now.

By the way, at first I was told by DIMIA that my application can be
finished within 6 months. But after six months, I got nothing. I wrote a
letter(plus email) to them to complain it. And I got response from them
to tell me that application time is extended to 7-8 months due to the
large amount of applications. And I got my visa granted letter after 6
months and 20 days of my initial application.

Wow! 2 years ago, that's awful! I think you are certainly entitled to
an explanation. You can get a migration agent to check on things for
you. Sometimes they may have more luck getting answers. It might be
worth a few hundred $$, I'm surprised you have held in for so long....

If you applied to London AHC almost two years ago, was your case
transferred to Adelaide or not? I understand that most London cases
lodged post May 2001 were transferred to Adelaide some time ago.
Hiring an agent may not help greatly, but it could help to have
someone on your side asking questions. Cost should not be much more
than a few hundred dollars.
If you have an Australian sponsor, that person (especially if he/she
is an Australian citizen) should be writing to their Federal MP asking
him to intervene with DIMIA, especially if there is no specific reason
for the delay.
