The August 9, 16, combined issue of the New Yorker cites cases in the US and
Canada where incompetent folks used a checklist and children were adopted out.
A very long article on a very important social issue, recently highlighted in
the UK.
No mention of the UK, nor Southall in this article, but a sad story of what
appeared to be an MSBP Mom who took her kid to the ER for asthma one time too
many and who was too demanding for the staff.
Since Mom on Medicaid, and not a private insurer, her child was easily taken
from home.
Couple of months later, in an unfamiliar foster home, the child dies, gasping
for air.
Mom won 1M settlement from state of California.
