I live in NJ.. but have worked in Philadelphia, PA for a little over a year.. I am 7 months pregnant.. my work has told me that I can use FLMA (unpaid) but use my saved time ( sick..vacation..personal) so I may receive a paycheck... I was wondering if I would still qualify for NJ short term disabilty??? So that I wouldn't have to use up all my time to have the baby???

I believe that you have to have been working in New Jersey, not just living there, in order to qualify for state disability benefits.

That's correct Marketeer, as SDI benefits are funded by employer contributions and employee deductions. OP, if you didn't have SDI deducted from our paychecks (and, legally, you should not have, because you did not work in NJ), you would not be eligible.

Thank you for your responses... I spoke to someone yesterday and they said I would quailfy if I worked for at least 20 weeks part time making at least $123 a week in NJ before going out on leave.... This is very upsetting  They also said they look back a year... Oh well... I guess I will just have to keep saving my time... :(
