I am sorry you went through that Patty, but in my case in vitro workedand I think my doctor is rather miraculous (I sure could have donewithout the extra hormones, but it all worked out in the end). I candefinitely see your and Di's argument however...well maybe more Di's(from the psychological standpoint).
I've definitely heard of secondary infertility from many of the different
boards I've visited in the last 5 years.
I wonder how much is from psychological trauma/conditions or physical
trauma/conditions?
Not to get too personal, but I've gone through a similar experience myself. I
can't explain it. My doctors never explained it.
Let's just say that right after the birth of my big guy, something very ugly
and traumatic (to me) happened in my marriage. I should have left the SOB then
and there, but I was determined to make it work.
I never had a natural period after that. Basically, I didn't have a period
for an entire year after first kid's birth, had to take hormones on and off for
3 years (3 months on, 3 months off, never had a period when I was off), used
them to get pregnant again, didn't have a period for another year without
hormones, took hormones for another couple of years.
2 months after I left my ex, I started having periods again on my own, and
they've been regular for the last 12 years.
Left my husband and BAM!
The doctors never found a physical reason for it. I guess maybe it was
psychological. Who knows?
I'm not sure of what the stats are, but I'm just not willing to discount other
people's experiences (definitely not saying you are, Deb, just used your post
as a drop-in point).

A good friend will come and bail you out of jail . . . but, a true friend will
be sitting next to you saying, "Damn . . . that was fun!"
