Has your son been declared the legal father, either through an affidavit of paternity or a DNA test? If not, he needs to file to establish paternity, file for custody/visitation rights, and if he is not granted custody, be prepared to pay child support.

Good evening, If your sons name is on the birth certificate as the father and is named as the father haven't you seen an attorney? I am sure you can get consultation free or there should be free services for information on steps to do. It sounds like neglet pure and simple if she just leaves the child with no contact. And believe me, if I knew my granddaughter was being raised by a drug user if fact, I would have family child services involved immediately. NO child you be raised in that enviroment EVER. Has he done anything on getting custody or any legal issues taken care of???

First off you have to have proven facts that your granddaughter is in harm. Does your son have visitation rights toher? If so he needs to exercise them more, and take notes of anything you find out of the ordinary. If she is acting out, bruises any harm what so ever...

and if not- he need to file for the type of custody he wants and a parenting plan
and/or to establish paternity

Did anyone notice that the OP never responded after I told her that if paternity had not been legally established, he would need to do so, and be prepared to pay child support? Just thought that was an interesting observation.
