I am employed 1 year by a small company in NY. My husband and I had begun the process of selling our house in preparation for a move to Colorado. I have recently found out that I am 9 weeks pregnant with twins. Because of past surgery and 2 cesarean deliveries my doctors are predicting that I won't be working much past my 6th month. I will be choosing the COBRA coverage when that time comes but I am concerned as to whether or not COBRA coverage will continue when we move to CO.

COBRA would continue but if you have a HMO or other plan that utilizes a network, there may not be doctors in CO that are part of the plan.

What will my choices be for healthcare at that point? What guidelines would Cobra follow as far as my coverage goes and how would I find out ahead of time what my benefits would be? Thanks for your help.

What will my choices be for healthcare at that point? Your only choice is a continuation of the present medical insurance plan your employer currently offers.

What guidelines would Cobra follow as far as my coverage goes Again, the exact same insurance coverage you have today.

and how would I find out ahead of time what my benefits would be? Ask your employer.

COBRA is not an insurance plan; it is a federal law that requires employers to extend continuation of the employee's current medical and dental coverage to departing employees at the employee's cost.

Can you please explain to me...since I am in a network in NY that does not exist in Colorado will I find myself without insurance in Colorado even though I opt for and pay for continued coverage through Cobra?

You would still have insurance, it just might not be usable in CO. Check and see if there is an out of network option that would work in CO. It may be more expensive to be out of network, but with infants and small children, it could be better than nothing.
