I have posted about 5 messsages about my current sitiuation, this whole custody deal is turning into a rollercoaster day by day. My exgirlfriend moved to georgia 2 and half months ago with my daughter of 29 months . We went to court friday to establish child support here in illinois, (thats where my baby was born and where all her family lives), and came up with a temp deal with me getting her the whole month of june til we have the actual hearing. Our attorneys talked to the judge for about a hour and a half about trying to get a reasonable visitation for myself , they couldnt come up with anything we could agree on . So we went ahead and set a date for full custody hearing on aug 15th. Well she came by to pick my daughter up today and asks me if we could work this out. She said she would give me 4 and a half months out of the year , just as long as it wasnt in a row, and we would meet half way between illnois and georgia and get this all court ordered. I really dont want my daughter to go through a nasty custody mudsling like i know it would be. Is it better to be on good terms and work it out with ex or go for full custody and be fighting all the time. Im really worried im going to get screwed into paying for her attorney. I have never heard of such crap in the legal system. please respond , and i appreciate the earlier responses to some of my Qs , THANKS!

What is your question? I think the part about your paying for the exgirlfriend's legal fees has been answered appropriately (you shouldn't be required to pay it). What would be a reasonable visitation in your eyes? How will her starting school in a few years impact the visitation, since it would be very awkward to have to switch schools in the middle of a school year?

These are the sorts of questions you have to resolve for yourself first - no one here is in your shoes or understands the situation as well as you do. If you truly believe you are getting the short end of the stick here (as your previous posts would indicate), then by all means fight for full custody.

I'm still confused about the child support...
