Did you read the latest Burrell delusions? Diana drove him around Paddington to talk to hookers? On puleeze! And his remark that Brender has bigger balls than Charles! Why doesn't his long-suffering wife kick this lunatic to the curb? Marley

He's starting a career on stage and screen. I'm afraid we've missed his
debut though.

Another couple of our old friends, and Burrell's near neighbours, get a
mention in this article, but their stage and TV career seems to have
floundered a bit.

Burrell takes to the stage

Jun 10 2004

Karen Price, The Western Mail

HE'S already caused controversy by writing a book and appearing on countless
TV shows to speak about his life as a royal butler, but now Paul Burrell has
announced plans for a one-man stage show in the West End.

During his show, called Paul Burrell: In His Own Words, he will give a
first-hand account of his life working with Diana, Princess of Wales.

And the man who Diana referred to as "my rock" will answer questions from
the audience.

Tickets for his appearance, at Theatre Royal in London's Drury Lane on June
20, start at £15, which will no doubt anger those who believe he is making
money out of the Princess's death.

But Burrell, from Farndon, near Wrexham, believes people want to hear his
story.

"I know there are millions of people out there who, like me, adored the
Princess and remember her as vividly as I do," said Burrell.

"In sharing my memories with a theatre audience, I want to illustrate her
magic, explain the truths and dispel the myths. Far too many royal advisers
would be happy for the Princess to be airbrushed from history. I think we
should celebrate her name and memory, and this evening at the theatre will
be a tribute to a remarkable, unforgettable woman.

"I am greatly looking forward to the evening and explaining what has
happened to me, both the good and the bad, in my own words.

"The public can then make up its own mind about me."

Following Diana's death in August 1997, Burrell was honoured by the Queen
with the Royal Victorian Medal in recognition of his loyalty and service to
the late Princess.

But he was later accused of theft from her estate, although his trial
sensationally collapsed after the Queen stepped in at the 11th hour.

Burrell later published his book, A Royal Duty, in which he revealed details
of his time working for the Princess.

Burrell is not the first controversial figure to tell his story during a
stage show.

Alan and Judith Kilshaw from North Wales hit the headlines when they
attempted to buy two baby girls over the internet.

They later told their story during a sell-out theatre show in Chester.

Paul Burrell will be at Theatre Royal in London's Drury Lane on June 20 at
7.30pm. The box office number is 020 7494 5061.
