I have worked for the same company in VA for 7 1/2 years and last week I requested to see my personel file at my job but was told my our HR department that I was not allowed to see the file or any part of it. How can this be? Everything in there is related to me, why can't I see it? Is that legal? :mad:

Yes, it is legal. Though some states require that an employee be allowed to see their file upon request, VA is not one of them. The files are company property and barring a state law that says otherwise, it is up to the employer who gets to see it.
