What is virtual sexual harassment?? Is it possible to receive just one e-mail and be virtual sexual harassment?? what is the law on this??? Does it depend whether you just send an obscene e-mail to one person or if you send it to a whole department just to forward a message??

Sexual Harassment can be verbal or written. Here is a link for you http://www.eeoc.gov/facts/fs-sex.html it tells the basics of sexual harassment. One good thing about an email or email sent to multiple people is that it is recorded or can be "proven". Whereas a verbal slur cannot. If the comments are unwanted then I'd file a complaint.
Best of luck.

One isolated incident does not necessarily lead to a determination of sexual harassment. It depends on the nature of the incident, the pervasiveness of such behavior in the workplace, the employer's response to the incident and the actions an employer took to prevent such actions from occuring to begin with. For example, an e-mail where one employee asks a person out on a date or compliments a person's appearance may not indicate sexual harassment. However, a single incidence of rape will.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

It is considered as sexual harassment. One must be careful with such humor...it really shouldn't be shared at work for several reasons. One, as in your case, you don't know who else may see the humor and, two, a person may not tell you if they are offended by the latest humor (even though they appeared to enjoy it before).
Why would your employer do this? Frankly, it is the huge financial liability of permitting such humor to occur in the workplace. You can read more about sexual harassment at www.eeoc.gov (http://www.eeoc.gov).
