Hi there,

This question is about medical malpractice by dentist.

Two years ago I visited a dentist in my area (Chesterfield.MO), My
gums were swelling and he gave me some antibiotics to fix that and
told me that take yogurt with this median because it will cause some
lose motions as its medicine behavior.

I start taking that medicine and start experiencing lose motions, in
4, 5 days I become very sick and got very high temperature like 105. I
got very week and was unable to eat anything then my friend took me to
emergency and I admitted there for 2 days. Since then I am
experiencing a very bad pain in my stomach and have to go toilet more
then 5 times a day with very pain for last 2 years.

After that I received a bill from hospital, most of the amount has
been paid by my insurance but still 1500$ left which they said I have
to pay.

I received a letter from court and a date of hiring. I told the other
party that why I need to pay this, this should be paid by dentist who
gave me this wrong medicine, but they told me that I have to come to
the court.

Please advice what should I do.
How can make that dentist to pay this amount and the pain and damages
it caused to me.
Would it consider a mal practice?
Where I can find an attorney who can help me in that, I cannot pay
huge fees to attorney.

Do I have to attend the court and pay to firm who bring the case in
court?

I ll appreciate you response.

Thanks

Typical advice for antibiotics. Many oral antibiotics upset the flora
in your digestive system, causing diarrhea. Some say that yogurt
containing live cultures can make up for some of that.

This is a possible side effect, and not entirely rare, either. Some
say 1 to 2 percent of the population is susceptible. What did the
doctor at the hospital say it was? Pseudomembranous colitis (PMC)?

Yes, charges not paid by insurance are your responsibility, even if
you believe somebody else made you sick. You owe the hospital, but you
may be able to recover from the dentist.

Nothing you wrote above indicates that the dentist gave you the wrong
medicine or committed any other kind of malpractice. Side effects
happen. They even happen with antibiotics that are usually safe and
are properly prescribed.

If you have a decent case, you stand a good chance of finding an
attorney who will take your case on contingency. If so, you won't have
to pay anything up front.

An attorney who does medical malpractice cases will also know the
local physicians who can serve as expert witnesses on your behalf. You
will need them to prove that the inadequate care you received from the
dentist is the cause of your problems.
Do I have to attend the court and pay to firm who bring the case in court?

If you blow off the court, you'll end up with a default judgment
against you. Then the hospital (or collection agency, if they turned
your account over for collection) has many more tools to collect from
you.

Not a lawyer, you really need to see a lawyer before your court date.
