Can someone please help? I was the 11th person hired for the company i worked for. At orientation I, and others, where promised a raise after 1 year. Evne though we all signed papers stating our job titles and pay rate, with a note to the side stating, NO PROGRESSION AT THIS TIME. Which was eplained by out HR rep as that we are a new company and that information was not in play at the time we where being hired. Since i was hired there have been many more people brought into the company, and they signed a similar piece of paper. Only thiers stats, pergression 1/yr at date of hire. The year is up for a few of us, and still no raise. When we asked our HR rep about the raise she responded, "Well I'll look into it honey, but if it happens, it wont be anytime soon". Surely after 1 year something should have happened, something should have been said to us about it. But still nothing.
Can they do this? Is it legal? I quit a hired paying job to come to this company. What can do? Anything? Also there was never any criteria on which this raise was to be on, no ammount or anything. We were just told after a year we would get a raise. Does that mean they can give us a dime, and say thier is your raise?
Since I was hired i have changed jobs within the company, this job requires me to know how to do alot more than i was originally hired to do, more responsibilities, I am one of 2 people that do this job. We have to know how to do pretty much everything to do our jobs. But yet we get paid the same as everyone else. As far as outside the company, we are Material Handles. Inside we are Inventory Control. Shouldnt this change my wages? Can anyone help? I am writing this on for myself, but also at the request of others I work with. :confused: :confused: :confused:
The job market in SC is not very good, but one of the reasons I started this job. Was that I have worked with everyone of the people that worked there, including management before. I trusted them. Now they are screwing us over big time. I quit a higher paying job because of what they said. Now i can bearly keep my head above the expenses because of thier lies.
Please! What if anything can I, we do?
