I'm hoping this avenue will be able to help me.
About four (4) years ago I filed bankruptcy due to a failed marriage. Upon discharge four of the five credit card companies began reporting my account as "Chapter 7 bankruptcy" or "Included in bankruptcy" however one creditor (First USA Bank) continues to report the account included in my BK as "Charged off as bad debt" with a past due amount listed  .
My understanding is that they can not report me as "past due"? I've applied for credit since my filing and have been denied due to my "past due credit obligations" I do not have any past due credit obligations and didn't even when I filled except the two months prior to filing. I've been trying to resolve this matter for about a year and a half now however the credit company will not correct their reporting. I do not know the law well enough to site a code or write a letter that will hold weight. I currently own a home and I'm paying a higher rate primarily due to this creditor's reporting practice.
Does anyone have any assistance or recommendations for me?
Thanks!
