I live in Texas.

I was charged with fleeing an accident (one car - friend's house - no injury - minimal damage), no license, no insurance, and possession of Schedule VI (pipe - no actual marijuana).

My car is currently impounded and has been for three days. How long are the police legally allowed to possess my car before releasing it?

I wish I could help, Stan, but this question would have a better chance of being answered on the criminal law forum.

Accidents and personal injury law have to do with civil law, specifically the legal specialty known as torts (http://www.law.cornell.edu/topics/torts.html). [See this site (http://www.barristerbooks.com/Product/Product.asp/law-qMethod/law-eqSearch/law-amp~/law-eq/law-IdS-00345F-96F8600) for some general references concerning torts and civil procedure.

Sorry I can't help. All my experience has been with civil procedure so far. Good luck.
